According to Vaastu doctrines, there
are certain norms and parameters which indicate the suitability of a plot to
people belonging to the different categories or castes like Brahmin, Kshatriya,
Vaishya and so on as per Hindu caste system.
For
Brahmin caste Square
shaped plot covered with white soil which is sweet to taste, adorned with an
Udambra tree and sloping towards the North is said to be most suitable and
fortunate
For
Kshatriya should
always choose a rectangular plot having reddish color soil which is a little
bitter to taste. Its length should exceed by one-eighth more than its width and
it should be sloping towards the east direction.
For Vaishyas, they should opt for a plot the length
of which is one-sixth more than its width. The color of the soil should be
yellowish and it should taste sour. As for the slope of the land, it should
head towards the East.
For
Shudras, the length
of the chosen plot should be one-fourth more than its width. The soil should be
blackish in color and should taste pungent.

All the above mentioned categories of plots
should be free from ants, worms, pebbles, bones and potsherds.

There should not be cavities and holes on its
surface and it should be as smooth and plain as a sheet.

If these guidelines are abided by with true
sincerity, it is sure to bring about good luck, health, wealth and prosperity
for its respective owners.
According
to shapes and sizes
Square plots
Plots which are equal in length and
breadth are termed as square plots. The Vaastu Purush fits perfectly in these
plots and hence they are considered most auspicious. However, such plots are
very rarely available and hence an alternative to this is to make the room
sizes in square shapes.
Rectangular plots
Rectangular plots are larger in length
as compared to their width and are angled at 90 degrees at their corners. Such
plots are extremely fruitful and high-yielding for its owners as it is very
easy to design the Vaastu payout on such lands. But it should be made sure that
the ratio of its size lies within 2:1. In other words, its length should not
exceed twice its width; otherwise the flow of energy would not be distributed
evenly among its occupants, thereby leading to disagreement and difference in
opinion within the family.
Triangular plots
Plots with three sides, angled at 45
degrees at the corners are called triangular plots. These plots should never be
purchased at any cost as they can cause umpteen amounts of problems in one’s
life. Residents of such houses can never achieve peace and prosperity in life.
Corner-cut plots
Plots with unparalleled corners and
irregular shape are not considered auspicious at all. Structures built on such
plots cause restlessness, diseases and financial crunches for its residents.
However, defects of such plots can be rectified and corrected by diverting the
flow of the subtle energies present here.
Circular plots
Circular plots are the best in terms
of Vaastu and they bring about overall prosperity and success for its owners.
However, such plots are very rarely available.
Oval plots
Plots which are oval in shape are
highly inauspicious and should not be opted for as they bring about great
losses in one’s life.
Semicircular plots
Just like oval plots, even D-shaped or
semi circular plots are highly unfavorable as they result in bringing about
financial instability.
Gomukh
plots.
Plots with wider space at the back as
compared to the front side are known as Gomukh plots. Such plots are good for
residential purposes but are not advisable for commercial use. However, while
choosing a Gomukh plot, it should be noticed that it I not North-facing as this
means shortening of the positive radiations coming from this direction.
Singhmukh plots
Singhmukh plots are those with a wider
front wall as compared to the back side. Such plots should not be used for
residential purposes but can be bought for constructing commercial
establishments on them.
