Vaastu Tips for BATHROOM

A bathroom is a place where we shed away and get rid of all our negative energies and hence it is considered to be one of the most sensitive zones as per Vastu doctrines. In olden times, bathrooms used to be located outside the house. Then came the league when they used to be built away from the bedroom, but in today’s age, a bathroom forms one of the most essential parts of a bedroom and are therefore comes attached with it. So, it becomes all the more important to maintain perfect hygiene and cleanliness within its confines both in terms of physical as well as Vastu scriptures.
Great care should be taken to choose the location, placement and positioning of the bathroom in every room or else it can create havoc in the lives of its users and the inmates of the house.

  • The north-west is the best direction for locating the bathroom in any room. This being an air-element direction does not hamper the flow of subtle energies.
  • As mentioned before, the north-east is a very pious direction, owned by Lord Shiva and occupied by the forehead of the Vaastu Purush. Constructing a bathroom in this direction is considered to be a crime as per Vaastu principles which can lead to disastrous health issues, accidents and uninvited tensions for its inmates.
  • The fire element occupies the south-east and hence a bathroom should not be made in this direction either. A bathroom forms part of the water element and fire and water being in opposition to each other can lead to unexpected losses, legal issues, electricity-related mishaps, accidents and so on.
  • The south west should, again, not be used for creating a bathroom as the magnetic energy coming from the north-east gets stored in this direction. Placing a bathroom here would mean draining out all of this, thereby causing feelings of depression and anxiety for its owners.
  • The center of the house is occupied by Lord Brahma and hence this place should also be kept devoid of a bathroom. Also, the gravitational energy emanates from the center of a structure and a bathroom here would destroy and infect this positive energy.
  • While entering a premises or building, the bathroom should not be visible from outside.
  • The bathroom releases a lot of negative energy and therefore it should never be positioned next to the kitchen or the Mandir of the house.
  • The water closet (commode) should be positioned in a manner so that while using it one does not face the sun. The ideal directions for the same would be the North, north-west or west.
  • The taps and shower equipments should be placed on the northern walls as this direction has a water element and facing the north while using them attracts financial prosperity for the users.
  • There should not be storage spaces in the bathroom. Also, they should be kept uncluttered and pristine, not necessarily decorated.
