Vastu tips for Constructing other Rooms in the House

It is very commonly seen that people do not give much weight to the importance of location of extra rooms like guest room, generator room or the servant’s room in their house. The point to be noted here is that every area of your house, no matter who it is allotted to, plays quite an influencing role in determining your well being and success in life. There is a scientific and logical reasoning behind the positioning of every room as every section of the premises emits positive as well as negative vibrations which have to be balanced harmoniously so as to make your life happy and worth living.

GUEST ROOM
‘Atithidevobhava,’ meaning a guest is a representative of God himself according to Hindu culture and belief. Hence, great care should be taken regarding thecomfort and well being of the guest coming to the house. However, it should be kept in mind that the placement of the guest room should be such that the host, too, benefits from him and that his presence does not create any kind of uneasiness in the latter’s daily regime and the guest returns to his destination with sweet memories of a happy and memorable stay with you and your family after a short span of time.
  1. No one wants a guest to stay for long or become a permanent member of the house, and therefore the best location for a guest room is the north-west. This direction represents the Air element which is a symbol of instability and hence would drive away the guest in a few days.
  2. The guest room should never be located in the south-west; this can lead to serious disasters.
  3. South-east and north-east are also not suitable for positioning a guest room.
  4. The guest room should have more openings towards the north and the east wall.
  5. The bed should be aligned to the southern wall of the guest room.
  6. White, shades of violet, grey or light blue should be used to paint the walls of this room.
  7. The guest room should not be used to store belongings and articles used by the host.
  8. The kitchen and the master bedroom should not be visible from the guest room.
SERVANT’S ROOM
We all need domestic help to run the household smoothly and peacefully, thanks to the increasing trend of nuclear families in our modern society. This calls for importance assigned to the servant’s room where the latter rests and restores his energy. Vaastu, like all other things, lays down certain principles regarding the location of the servant’s room as well. Let’s check them out.

The West is considered to be a neutral direction, neither strong nor weak, and hence it is best suited for the placement of the servant’s quarter. The north and the east, on the contrary, are very pious directions and therefore cannot accommodate a servant. As for the south and south-west, these are very powerful and strong directions. Placing a servant’s room here would mean sharing your earth luck with him, which, ultimately would lead to making him dominant and stubborn.

The North-west, as discussed before, is an unstable direction and hence a servant should never be made to occupy this area of the house. If positioned here, servants would keep coming and going every now and then, not enabling a healthy and long-term association with the employer.
If the North-west of your house has a garage, this can, however, be converted into a servant’s room.
